Our History:
Jacksonville Furniture Mart has a rich history that began in 1946, founded by Sam and Saul Rosenberg in Jacksonville, Florida. Here's a look at our journey:
The Beginning
In 1946, Benny and Hannah Gavronsky, Holocaust survivors, were living in Munich, Germany. Shortly after World War II, they immigrated to the United States and settled in Jacksonville, Florida. Benny, with his entrepreneurial spirit, started Wesconnett Furniture in 1960, selling refurbished merchandise. Despite the challenges of being an immigrant and a Holocaust survivor, Benny's determination and hard work were unmatched. Standing at just 4 foot 11, he was known for his incredible strength, often carrying refrigerators on his back, as fridges were smaller back then.
The Evolution
In 1977, the Gavronsky family purchased Furniture Mart from the Rosenbergs. Under their ownership, Furniture Mart quickly expanded by developing a competitive pricing structure. Instead of competing with local merchants, they matched the prices of furniture sold in High Point, North Carolina, making high-quality furniture accessible to Jacksonville residents at unbeatable prices.
